Hi. I’m Jen.

I like people and I like money and I like social media.

People are my lifeblood. Everyone has an amazing story to share, something new to teach me about human nature, and can leave me feeling different than I did when I began talking to them. Interacting with people changes me, and people change when I interact with them.

The true web is the one we create in our lives, from our interactions with the cashier to our co-workers to our families to our childrens’ teachers. The Internet itself is just a magnified reflection of these interactions. As such, studying economics while working in social media is a natural outcropping of my love of money, my love of people, and my love of understanding how people and money interact and work together on both a small and large scale.

  • I’ve been a secretary, a writer, an office manager, and have worked in customer service.
  • I’ve worked in the insurance industry, retail, white collar, blue collar, highrises and small businesses.
  • I’ve been an employee, an independent contractor, a direct sales representative, and a business owner.

While most people spent their time learning from books and getting internships and choosing a life path, I was more interested in individuals and systems and just learning as much as I could about the world around me and how it actually works.

Now I think I have a decent grip on that part and want the math and the theory and the knowledge an economics background will give me. It’s the missing link, but one that would not have mattered if I only knew it in theory right out of high school. I’m a powerhouse of experience and I’m about to combine that with theory.

This is going to be fun.

I am currently enrolled for the Spring 2011 semester and going to take:
